Description
Bomas were originally build to keep livestock safe inside while walls of thorn-bush branches kept predators and the dangers of night outside. But in African safari camps today, the Boma’s circle of branches reach for the moon and stars to invite you to surrender to the night… gather around a raging campfire and the staff will introduce you to a rich and colorful heritage through traditional African song and dance.

Such an other-worldly feel to it. Amazing. What camera do you use? I am looking for one that does good in low light and night.
Sylvia J Zarco replied:
Other-worldly is a wonderful way to describe an African night around the campfire. Thank You! Took this shot with a Canon Powershot SX50. It's a great point-and-shoot that I always have with me, shoots RAW and has a SLR-zoom equivalent of 24-1200mm. Getting to shoot RAW really helps with post-processing and for this camera as well as my "big boy" 5D and 7D, I got the Nik Collection of plug-ins last year and love it. Nik works with both Lightroom and Photoshop and I think its "Dfine 2" application handles noise reduction wonderfully. Hope my experience with my SX50 and Nik – both of which I love and recommend – can help you too.

I was intrigued by the view and the night. Great to hear you like what I was able to capture. Many Thanks Dan!
