We stopped by a hippo pool in the Selinda Spillway for morning tea. Barely had a sip of my coffee when the water exploded. For the next hour two big bulls antagonized each other with yawns and sprays of dung intended to display strength, size and dominance. Their taunts often erupted into full blown confrontation where they literally put their money where their mouth is to prove who's boss in this part of the river.
Note: Fatal as this moment looks, amazingly the contender safely backed up and off, eventually accepting defeat and floating away to nurse only minor flesh wounds.
