Artist's Description
Our guides call him the Lecaba male as he came from Lecaba Island in Deception Valley before claiming the area and the lionesses near Kalahari Plains as his. He is big and strong with the characteristic dark mane of the Kalahari. His roar can be heard up to 5 miles (8 km) into the distance but from a few feet away, you don't hear him as much as you feel him reach deep into your soul, awakening primal senses that have laid dormant for generations.
Kalahari Plains, Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Botswana

Lions are majestic creatures and so classically Africa. We were very fortunate to meet, photograph (and hear) this beautiful boy several times during our stay in the Kalahari. So pleased to share and enjoy your gracious comments. Thank You very much!
