Description
Flowing through shade and shadow, surrounded by forest, Starvation Creek tumbles 227 feet down sheer cliff before its final turn to join the Columbia River. This picturesque towering falls is incredibly accessible, 300 feet away from the parking lot and literally a stone’s throw from Interstate 84.
FYI as of October 2017: Sadly, about a week after this photograph was taken, teenagers illegally playing with fireworks during a burn ban ignited the massive Eagle Creek Fire, closing most trails on the Oregon side of the Gorge until further notice. It is anticipated that fire damage and the resulting danger from land and rockslides will keep most trails closed until Spring or Summer 2018. But even when trails finally reopen, with 48,831 acres burned as of October 7th, the Columbia River Gorge will need years to recover and heal from the loss of thousands and thousands of trees.
