Description
Traveling Alaskan wilderness where there is no connection to the outside world, I arrived in Talkeetna, near a cell tower, and my phone rang. It was my Brother in Florida with sad news that Trouble was so frail, he would bring her to the vet next day, probably for the last time. Trouble has been a feline member of the family for almost 20 years so I longed to comfort her and say goodbye one last time but being thousands of miles away with a few more days of vacation to go, it was a wish I knew I would not be granted.
Later that night/morning, I woke in darkness to check for the Aurora Borealis. After weeks of clouds and rain, it was clear overhead but I saw an odd "cloud" to the north. I was surprised the "cloud" was shaped like a bow as I'd never seen aurora pictures that way. But as it became more vivid and arced through the sky to touch the peak of Denali, the highest, closest point to Heaven in North America, with the twinkling stars of the Big Dipper above, the hint of dawn glowing below, I thought of Trouble lighting up my world with playfulness, innocence, pure love, wonder and joy.
After the sun rose later that morning, I heard from my Brother that Trouble passed sometime in the early morning. I won't see her again but I'm certain I got my chance to say goodbye to Trouble as she danced along that magical Rainbow Bridge in the northern sky.

Very cool Sylvia. It's kind of like a Aurora Borealis rainbow. I dig it!

I was surprised by the Aurora-bow myself. Was definitely a cool and impressive sight. Thank you Sean!
