It was a beautiful spring afternoon and somewhere out in this field, in the tall grass around the walnut tree, a mother bear lay hidden. Over her head, nestled in the fork of the tree is her little cub peacefully napping. Bears are undoubtedly the star attractions in the Smoky Mountains. But wildlife can be frustratingly elusive to see, even when you know exactly where they are. Luckily the Smokys also offer beautiful landscapes so while bears sleep, don't forget to step back, look around and take in the wonderful view.
