In 1983, Sting wrote that "There's a little black spot on the sun today..." in the song "King of Pain." Well September 13 2011 was a clear but hazy day in Boston Massachusetts. Perfect conditions for a thick haze to darken the horizon and make the setting sun glow red as it slipped behind the trees of a soccer field. Little did I know when I exposed this image, that conditions were also right to show a "little black spot on the sun today." Very exciting when I realized that "smudge" on my computer screen was actually my first sunspot.

Shots like this remind me why I love photography... how the camera sees and gifts you with things that your eye missed at the time. Thank You!
